Responding to a growing demand from livestock producers for standardised, credible and accessible emissions accounting data, leading software provider, AgriWebb, has adopted AIA's Environmental Accounting Platform (EAP) engine through free open-source code to deliver emissions accounting to its customers.
This represents another important milestone in the adoption of the EAP, which has seen over 30,000 emissions calculations to date and over 35 organisations using the engine to drive emissions for themselves or their farming customers.
As sustainability reporting, supply chain requirements and market expectations continue to evolve, more producers are seeking reliable ways to understand their greenhouse gas emissions.
By integrating the AIA EAP engine into its existing farm management platform, AgriWebb, which covers 25% of Australia’s grazing livestock across a global network of 150+ million acres and 18,000+ farmers, is enabling customers to access emissions insights alongside the operational data they already use to manage their businesses.
CEO of AIA, Sam Brown explains, the adoption by leading software providers such as AgriWebb, is exactly the type of outcome AIA hoped to achieve by making the EAP accessible via an API and open-source code.
“The AIA EAP was developed to provide a transparent and trusted emissions accounting platform for all of Australian agriculture,” Mr Brown said.
“We are seeing a growing interest from producers who want to better understand their emissions profile - with a view to not only reducing their emissions but also identifying inefficiencies in their farm management systems, bolstering productivity and managing their reliance on inputs, which is particularly relevant given what we have seen in recent months with fuel and fertiliser supply and price volatility.”

The collaboration between AIA and AgriWebb highlights the growing role of partnerships in accelerating digital innovation for agriculture.
Rather than each organisation developing emissions accounting capability independently, AIA’s API and open-source infrastructure enables technology providers to access a shared engine while continuing to innovate in how information is recorded by producers.
This approach also supports greater transparency.
Producers, supply chains and industry stakeholders benefit from emissions calculations that are based on a recognised methodology, helping build confidence in reported results while reducing the complexity of navigating different accounting approaches.
